Kamala Harris just turned Trump’s McDonald’s stunt on its head

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Monday, appearing in Royal Oak, Michigan, Kamala Harris called for a raise in the federal minimum wage – a popular position that Donald Trump refused to commit to over the weekend while he pretended to care about fast food employees.

The federal minimum wage standard, even though many states have surpassed it, still sits at $7.25 an hour – remaining stagnant for over 15 years – something that’s unlikely to change should Republicans have their way, particularly if Donald Trump has a say. We’re likely to get more details over the course of the week – either on Tuesday when she gives two media interviews, or during her Wednesday town hall on CNN, but this is a crucial talking point to get out there as the election winds down.

It’s also a clear contrast in the styles of both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Once again, she’s proposing a solid solution to a longstanding problem that has popular support, while the former guy is all about performance and showmanship, and has no solid view on the economy apart from giving his friends yet another tax cut they don’t need – one that we’ll be stuck paying for.

It’s a clear issue that we need to turn the page on and move forward and why we’ll be significantly better off under another Democratic administration. This is why we need to turn out in record numbers and elect Kamala Harris president on Nov 5.
