Kamala Harris is mopping the floor with Donald Trump
When Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate, two different things were at play. On the one hand, she’s one of the most impressive running mate picks of all time. Smart, savvy, assertive, inspiring, everything you’d hope for in a leader. But on the other hand, the Republicans never seem to have much trouble manufacturing phony scandals about candidates who are women or people of color, and Kamala is both.
Yet two months after Biden picked Kamala, Trump and the Republicans still have yet to even so much as lay a glove on her. Again, there’s no legitimate basis for knocking her. She’s fantastic. She’s essentially scandal free. But Trump and the GOP have had two months – a lot longer than that, in fact, considering that we all knew for awhile that there was a good chance Biden would pick her – and they still haven’t been able to get any phony scandals or narratives to stick. It’s as if they’re not even trying.
Then again, after watching Kamala Harris wipe the floor with Mike Pence last week, maybe Team Trump is just rightly scared of her. It’s as if Donald Trump has decided to just mostly ignore Kamala, apart from taking the occasional racist and sexist pot shot at her in passing, for fear that fully engaging her would just give her more of a platform for mopping the floor with him.
In any case, Donald Trump’s inability to lay a glove on Kamala Harris merely serves to highlight the fact that she was the right VP pick both in terms of merit and in terms of strategy. Joe Biden hit it out of the park by picking her, and she’s been hitting it out of the park ever since.
