Joe Biden just brought up Kamala Harris

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

There’s been a lot of speculation about Joe Biden’s running mate, and it could of course all be wrong. But Biden set off some of that speculation himself several weeks ago when he was asked about Kamala Harris, and he said that he wanted her in his administration, and he’d have to talk to her about what role she would want. Now Biden has unexpectedly brought up Harris again.

During his rally in Missouri today, Joe Biden began thanking the 2020 Democratic candidates who have dropped out and endorsed him: Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. But then Biden also made a point of thanking former candidate Kamala Harris, who hasn’t endorsed him.

On its own, we might not be tempted to read anything into this. But check out this sentence from Reuters today: “Harris, a U.S. senator from California, has been weighing such an endorsement, according to a person familiar with her thinking.” For what it’s worth, when the media says its source is someone familiar with the person’s thinking, that means it came directly from the person.

In other words, Kamala Harris just confirmed to the media that she’s weighing endorsing Joe Biden. This isn’t a surprise, of course. Biden is the only candidate left in the race that Harris would find suitable. But Biden’s decision to bring up her name today is going to reignite the speculation about her being the running mate.
