Donald Trump just got busted
Earlier today, Palmer Report brought you the story of how Donald Trump skipped the G7 climate change meeting. We figured it was probably best for all involved, as Trump still seems to think climate change is a Chinese hoax, and the other G7 leaders wouldn’t want him in the room during such a discussion anyway. But Trump couldn’t leave bad enough alone, and now he’s gotten busted for it.
Donald Trump’s new White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham is already proving herself to be just as much of a liar as her predecessor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and now it’s starting to look like Grisham is even worse at lying than Sanders was. According to Eli Stokols of the LA Times, Grisham offered this explanation for why Trump skipped the climate meeting: “The President had scheduled meetings and bilaterals with Germany and India, so a senior member of the Administration attended in his stead.”
The trouble, as was quickly pointed out by CNN’s Jim Sciutto and others, is that the leaders of Germany and India were at the climate change meeting. This means Trump couldn’t have needed to skip the climate change meeting in order to meet with them instead. In other words, Trump just got busted.
Various pool reporters have also tweeted today that Donald Trump repeatedly said he was on his way to the climate change meeting, after it had already taken place without him. So either Trump got confused about when the meeting was, or he was pretending to be confused about it, even as his handlers were falsely claiming that he had to skip it because he was attending a different meeting. These geniuses can’t even get their lies straight.
