This is out of control

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

At Trump’s rally in El Paso, a BBC cameraman was attacked by a Trump supporter according to the Huffington Post. The guy, wearing a “MAGA” hat, was recorded screaming, “USA! USA! F*ck you! F*ck you! F*ck the media!” As the man was subdued by security, booing could be heard from the crowd. I have to ask: What is wrong with these people? Of course, we all already know the answer: Donald Trump.

Never in the history of this country has a president been so divisive. Some will say that President Obama was divisive, but any division caused by President Obama was the result of outside forces (i.e. racists) who didn’t appreciate having a president of color. With Trump, it’s a completely different story. He appears to love the division, anger, and hate, and he does whatever he can to keep it going. He is certainly not worthy of the office he currently holds.

Eleanor Montague, the BBC Washington News Editor, shared that “the crowd had been whipped up into a frenzy against the media by Trump and other speakers all night.” Another BBC reporter, Gary O’Donoghue described the attack as “incredibly violent” and shared that he has been “spat at” during another Trump rally. Seriously? No one should really be surprised, as this is Trump’s main modus operandi. He loves creating dissention and encouraging violence, as he has on many occasions, including offering to pay people to “rough up” protestors and the media. Considering all of the criminal charges now pending against Trump and his cohorts, this behavior is certainly a good way to distract from those charges and to keep his name in the news, something he craves.

At the El Paso rally, Trump specifically drew his supporters’ attention to the press, saying, “Wow, look at all the press back [there]. Can you believe that?” Of course, his question was designed to and succeeded in having his supporters “boo” at the press, ending with MAGA-dude storming the press platform and assaulting a member of the press.

Donald Trump has not fulfilled his promise to “Make America Great Again” and has only succeeded in making America hate again. Under this administration, it’s apparently okay to openly display disdain toward those with whom you disagree or don’t like because of their skin color or national origin. It’s okay to brand the press “the enemy of the people” because they don’t agree with him and because they print the truth about him. The sooner we can rid the Oval Office of Trump the better off we are going to be.
