Judge McAfee just shattered Donald Trump’s pipe dream

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. I’ve said it before, and it’s worth repeating. If you’re a criminal defendant who doesn’t want to go to trial, your only realistic opportunity to delay the trial is early on. Once things start to get closer to being finalized, the courts tend to start rejecting a defendant’s delay tactics in real time, in a way that doesn’t actually delay the trial.

For instance, Trump’s New York criminal trial is now clearly locked in for April 15th, as evidenced by how Judge Merchan keeps striking down Trump’s last ditch delay tactics like a game of whack-a-mole. Now we’re seeing signs that Trump’s Fulton County criminal trial is also in the process of getting locked in.

Judge McAfee struck down Trump’s silly delay tactic filings today, ruling that Trump’s actions in relation to the 2020 election were not protected by the First Amendment. Trump was obviously going to lose these kinds of rulings. But the key is that he’s now losing them in swift fashion. It very much appears that Judge McAfee is looking for the Fulton County trial to get started.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ last public statement was that she’s looking to start the Trump trial this summer. It’s starting to look like Judge McAfee is on the same page in that regard. And Trump’s pipe dream hope of delaying his Fulton County trial is getting shattered.
