Donald Trump Jr caught up in Michael Cohen scandal
Donald Trump Jr’s wife has already recently filed for divorce, and it’s already come to light that she’s long known about his infidelity, so it’s not as if any news can surface at this point that could do any more damage to Junior’s marriage than has already been done. However, as we’re now learning with his father, the attempted coverup can lead to some dire legal consequences. So it’s notable that Donald Trump Jr is now caught up in the Michael Cohen scandal.
Us Weekly is now telling the Wall Street Journal that back in 2013, Michael Cohen succeeded in convincing the magazine to kill a story about Donald Trump Jr’s now-public affair with Celebrity Apprentice contestant Aubrey O’Day. Cohen threatened a lawsuit if the story was published, which was a perfectly legitimate maneuver on his part. But here’s the quote from someone who was working for Us Weekly at the time: “He was just one of these New York characters where he was just like swearing at us and totally over-the-top threatening.”
Does this sound to you like he was merely threatening a lawsuit? We don’t know yet, of course. It’s worth noting that Stormy Daniels now claims that an unknown man tracked her down and threatened her with physical harm if she went public about her affair with Donald Trump. This was even as Michael Cohen was handling the back-and-forth with her legal team. Daniels has not supplied any direct evidence that Cohen actually sent the man to threaten her, but you can bet the FBI was searching for evidence of this when it raided Cohen’s home and office this past week.
What else, if anything, did Michael Cohen do in the name of keeping Donald Trump Jr’s affair private? Did Cohen cross legal lines in the process? If so, did Junior know about it? The evidence is going to answer these questions one way or another. Either way, Donald Trump Jr is now caught up in the federal criminal investigation into Cohen’s activities as the Trump family fixer.
