Donald Trump Jr is having a pretty bad day
Donald Trump Jr is the kind of guy who seems to think I can’t see his tweets anymore, and that I’ll therefore stop writing about him, just because he blocked me on Twitter. He’s also the kind of guy who thinks that if he keeps tweeting about how other people’s golf courses should be allowed to reopen during lockdowns, no one will realize that he’s really lobbying for his own Trump golf courses to reopen.
But the real trouble for Donald Trump Jr is when he starts trying to punch above his weight. It’s one thing for him to tweet his own silly gibberish while his father’s idiot fans lavish him with praise for it. It’s another thing to go after someone like Dan Rather.
Last night Donald Trump insisted that he’s been treated even worse than Abraham Lincoln, while pointing to a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Dan Rather responded by tweeting “One rule of American politics: don’t compare yourself to Abraham Lincoln.”
Donald Trump Jr decided to attack Dan Rather over this. But instead of taking on Rather directly, he sought out some troll account called “cat turd” that had attacked Rather, and retweeted that instead. That’s right, Trump Junior is trying to take on Dan Rather by retweeting someone named cat turd. Tells you all you need to know.
