Jon Ossoff comes out swinging at Trump regime insanity

Ever since the National Security Council, the defense secretary and the vice president decided to stupidly include a high profile journalist from The Atlantic in a group chat where they discussed classified intel, they’ve earned (rightfully) a lot of scorn and ridicule from all sides. Despite all of the jokes about whether or not Pete Hegseth was under the influence during this discussion, or how he handled the press in embarrassingly bad fashion – even after the White House admitted to the group texts being authentic, the fact is that it’s an extremely reckless move by the Trump administration that jeopardizes our standing with allies even more than Donald Trump has already managed to do so.

That’s why Democrats like Sen. Jon Ossoff are lashing out accordingly. For people like Trump or Hegseth to lie that they don’t know about it – it’s actually worse – as it shows there’s no clear sense of order in the White House and the people in positions of power are terrible in their jobs in ways we didn’t think possible. That’s why Ossoff felt it necessary to grill CIA Director John Ratcliffe about the dissemination of an air strike on Yemen – the coordinates at which the planes were flying – in a group chat. Ratcliffe talked over him of course – refusing to apologize or even acknowledge how reckless his actions were.

People have been demanding that Democrats fight, even though for the first several months, it wasn’t quite clear how a party with no levers of power was able to do that. Now, however, we have stumbled onto one of the first egregious disasters inflicted by this administration – far from the last – and Ossoff has made clear it’s not going away – with Ratcliffe’s answers to be added to the record as Senate Democrats continue to demand answers on what happened and exactly how much was exposed.
