GOP Senator John Cornyn throws Donald Trump under the bus after his coronavirus debacle

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Republican Senator John Cornyn is in some danger of losing his seat next month to upstart Democratic candidate MJ Hegar, and the ongoing implosion of Donald Trump certainly isn’t helping Cornyn’s prospects. Now that Trump has caught coronavirus, misled the public about when he caught it, spread it to half the West Wing, and inexplicably decided to out of the hospital while still infected, Cornyn is starting to hedge his bets.

John Cornyn is as much of a spineless coward as ever. But he’s now accusing Donald Trump of “not telling the truth” about what was really going on with his coronavirus, because “you know the real story is going to come out.” Cornyn is also venting that it’s “not easy to try to get things done working with him.”

In other words, John Cornyn is now worried that Donald Trump’s coronavirus incident will make him even more unpopular, and now Cornyn is tepidly throwing him under the bus in the hope of hedging his bets with voters in Texas, where Trump’s numbers aren’t great to begin with. We award Cornyn zero points for saying any of this, but it’s an indicator that GOP Senators care more about their own careers than they do about Trump’s fate – and they’re not expecting him to last anyway.
