Joe Biden’s running mate

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Every few days, yet another major news outlet or prominent political pundit claims to have inside information about Joe Biden’s running mate selection process. These reports usually consist of one contender’s “stock rising” or something similar. Then there’s a feeding frenzy involving that person for a few days, before some new report insists that some other contender’s “stock is rising.”

Here’s the thing about a super-secretive process like this: no one knows anything. There are only a tiny handful of people, who are all super close to Joe Biden, who know what he’s really planning to do – and they’re the very last people who are going to leak anything to a reporter as a favor.

The people claiming to have inside information on the running mate selection process are surely people on the outer fringes of Biden’s orbit. They’re either offering up third-hand hearsay to the media that isn’t reliable, or they’re planting names in the media in the hope of influencing Biden’s thinking.

These reports about Biden’s running mate aren’t based in reality. They can’t be. This isn’t the kind of process that provides inside information to such a wide circle of people that it produces reliable leakers. This is a strictly close to the vest process that doesn’t lend itself to leaks. You’re better off ignoring all these running mate reports entirely, because then at least you know you don’t know anything about it.
