Joe Biden is now surging in another surprise state
Joe Biden’s good week just keeps getting better for him. Earlier this week a new poll from the Detroit News said that Biden had surged to a six point lead in Michigan, which was a fifteen point swing in just a two week period. This was the kind of number that prompted Bernie Sanders to give up on Mississippi, cancel his one event there, and head to Michigan for additional campaigning. Now another state is in play.
When Palmer Report brought you the news of Biden’s surge in Michigan, which votes this upcoming Tuesday, we pointed out that Washington State also votes on the same day. Polling from three weeks ago had Sanders ahead in the state by six points. But sure enough, a new KING-TV poll now has Biden ahead of Sanders by one point.
This is a seven point surge, in a state that everyone was expecting Biden to lose. Being ahead by one point in a poll doesn’t mean that Biden is going to win the state. Sanders could easily still win Washington. But this is the latest evidence that Biden is surging on all fronts, and it means that Sanders now has to play defense in just about every state going forward.
As it stands, Joe Biden appears to be on track this upcoming Tuesday to achieve a major blowout win in Mississippi, and narrower wins in Michigan and Missouri. If Biden can pull off the upset win in Washington as well, he’ll win all four of the larger states that vote on Tuesday. Even if Biden fails in Washington, he should come out of Tuesday with the largest delegate haul – assuming his supporters continue actually showing up and voting for him.
