Joe Biden just won big

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s anticlimactic news, considering the 2020 Democratic primary race is already over, and we already know who the Democratic nominee is, and his most popular former opponents have all endorsed him. But it’s nonetheless notable that Joe Biden won the Ohio Democratic primary contest today – and he won it in a massive blowout.

Initial numbers suggest that Joe Biden may have won Ohio by as much as fifty points. But wait, you say, didn’t everyone else already drop out? Yes, but several of the popular former candidates still had their names on the ballot in Ohio, even if they dropped out a long time ago, because primary rules are arcane.

What matters is that in an electorally meaningless contest in Ohio that was only about showing how much you care about your candidate, far more people turned out to vote for Joe Biden than turned out to vote for people like Bernie Sanders. This suggests that the momentum behind Biden is continuing to grow.

This isn’t surprising. All that Joe Biden had to do was to get past the first three oddball states, two of which were completely out of whack with the nation on a racial basis, and two of which were using the insane caucus format, and he was always going to dominate. Also, Biden’s former opponents like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar have all enthusiastically endorsed him.
