Joe Biden is nothing if not prepared

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Everything President Joe Biden has done to date has been to benefit us as citizens of the country. He looks to every possible eventuality and tries to plan accordingly. The Washington Post reported on his preparations for extreme weather. This is such a great idea. We are usually not ready when disasters strike, and it certainly helps to be prepared, as opposed to throwing paper towels at people. Washington Post reported that Biden wants to fund this endeavor with $1 billion, which is nothing when compared to what we pay every year on disasters. In addition to covering damage created by disasters, President Biden’s fund also launches a new effort through which NASA will collect climate data, giving us a new level of preparedness.

President Biden’s new initiative is called Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities. This program will help communities prepare for hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters. Additional funds will be directed to disadvantaged areas to help those who are not as able to help themselves. This is yet another plan of President Biden that seeks to make life fairer and more equitable in the U.S. Biden’s National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy believes that this initiative will also help people to understand that climate change is real and that we must deal with it. Unlike Trump and his pressure on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (“NOAA”) to contradict their own experts, President Biden follows the science. He does not want to hide anything from the American people, adhering to one of his most important goals of always telling the truth. Climate change is no different. Last year, we surpassed the 2005 record for storms, and NOAA expects this year to be at least as bad if not worse. Ever the realist, President Bidens wants to ensure that we are prepared.

So far, President Biden’s initiatives have been extremely popular among the American people. Back in February, Business Insider reported that 76% of Americans supported his stimulus package. In April, U.S. News & World Report’s poll showed that not only do 56% of Americans support President Biden’s infrastructure plan, but 65% support taxing the wealthy to pay for it. Now, research group Invest in America and progressive think tank Data for Progress have released a poll showing that 58% of Americans support the jobs, family, and education bill. These outfits took their poll one step further: They asked how Biden’s plan stacks up against the Republican proposal, and 51% prefer Biden’s plan. The poll also revealed that 63% of Americans want corporate taxes raised, and most striking, 55% want Republicans to work with President Biden and the Democrats. Clearly, the American people are not stupid. We know what Republicans are doing, and we do not like it. If they have any hopes of taking back control in 2022, they had better find something more compelling to the American people than clinging to a fake president who has a 30% approval rating. Biden and the Democrats are leaving them in the dust.
