If you’ve been watching CNN and MSNBC lately, you’d think Joe Biden didn’t exist. If you’ve been listening to the increasingly deranged conspiracy theories coming from the Bernie or Bust people, you’d think Joe Biden has gone into hiding and is on death’s door. Meanwhile, back in the real world, Biden keeps holding press briefings – but cable news keeps refusing to air them.

Joe Biden held a digital press briefing this morning, but MSNBC and CNN both opted not to air it. Granted, there are a lot of other things going on today. But Biden also gave a press briefing on Friday alongside the former head of the FDA, and the networks didn’t air it either. As far as the cable news networks are concerned, the election no longer even exists.

Yes, coronavirus coverage is crucial for these networks. But Biden was talking about the coronavirus crisis today, and he was providing much more useful information than anything Donald Trump has said during any of his press conferences. And Biden’s briefing was certainly more useful than Mitch McConnell’s whiny lie-filled Senate floor speech today about the failed stimulus vote, which both networks made a point of airing.

Besides, how can the media keep getting ratings out of the false narrative that Joe Biden is missing in action, if it puts Biden’s briefings on the air? We saw the media pull a similar stunt in 2016. Hillary Clinton spent most of her time talking policy, but they only ever put her on the air when she talked about Trump – then they attacked her for supposedly only talking about Trump. Now the media is pretending Biden isn’t even talking at all. It’s absurdly dishonest.
