Joe Biden has a plan
“‘We’re not going to control the pandemic,’ White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union. ‘We are gonna control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation areas.’”
Reassuring news. Let me remind you that Donald Trump has said a number of things about COVID-19, ranging from accusations about China having manufactured the virus to hydroxychloroquine being a cure for the virus to stating that he wouldn’t have done much differently to slow the pandemic if given a second chance. Now, his White House is stating that there is no real plan apart from waiting for a vaccine, which of course will be of limited use because only half of polled Americans say they would definitely or probably get a COVID vaccine.
What does this mean for the United States? It means we’re behind. And we’re going to stay behind. China’s economy is surging, despite having a large number of COVID cases and being the origin of the pandemic. Why? Because, for all its faults, Beijing was able to coordinate a clear pandemic plan that managed to curb the spread of the disease. The US has failed to do that under Trump’s “leadership.” The US will continue to falter if what Mark Meadows said turns out to be true.
What’s more, as nearly a quarter of a million Americans are dead from COVID and just after Trump’s own brush with COVID, Mike Pence’s team has five staffers with confirmed COVID cases and Trump continues to hold rallies even when the evidence shows that there have been several outbreaks in cities after Trump’s visit.
There is one clear solution, however. It’s called the Biden Plan. Joe Biden’s leadership is what we need to get past the pandemic and return to normal. The only way we can get this plan in place is to vote for Biden, of course. In a time when COVID has been heavily politicized, Biden’s plan cuts out the political element and focuses on healing the nation regardless of political persuasion. That’s what a true leader does.
