President Biden for the win

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

President Joe Biden has a great gift that few other politicians have. That is the gift of empathy. Empathy is what got him elected, in this writer’s opinion. Empathy glows in the dark. What I mean by that is — as dark as the days can sometimes be — when one is surrounded by empathy, it is slivers of light in the darkness.

The Buffalo, New York shooting is a tragedy. It’s a tragedy that will go down as one of many senseless gun-related tragedies. Sensible gun reform has eluded us. And that is mainly due to the GOP — and the NRA. Yet we will not give up. And President Biden offered beauty and stirring words.

“Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is antithetical to everything we stand for in America,” Biden said. “We must do everything in our power to end hate-fueled domestic terrorism.”

I love President Biden, readers, and friends. And I do not say that lightly. He represents the very best of America — the empathetic aspect. It is that quality — missing in so many — but blooming so freely within him – that will get him reelected in 2024.

And it is what has gotten him this far. Sure other qualities helped. Intelligence, experience — all were important. But his empathy is his crown jewel. It is that which is missing in so many politicians and humans as a whole.

So thank you, President Biden, for being who you are, for your poignant and empathetic words, and for always recognizing the good in America — while never giving up on the dream of bringing empathy back to this country.
