Joe Biden comes out swinging

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The allies of both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have stooped to the level of accusing Joe Biden of having dementia, despite the fact that Biden has released his medical records, something we can’t say of his two opponents still in the race. This is also unfolding as Donald Trump continues to reveal himself to be a selfish, incompetent buffoon only putting the country in serious danger while ignoring the fact that he’s way in over his head.

Joe Biden made an appearance on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on Monday to call out the current occupant of the Oval Office. In doing so, he demonstrates what the country is sorely lacking under the current administration. Asked whether he believes the current stock market panic is due to investors realizing that Donald Trump has no idea what he’s doing, Biden reluctantly confirmed that he believed this was the case – but then he highlighted the real problem with Trump that we’ve seen over and over again, that would be there even if Trump had the sense to care about the thousands of lives that were needlessly put at risk.

“Just let the experts speak and acknowledge whatever they suggest to him is what we should be doing,” Biden said during the interview, after acknowledging that someone shouldn’t have to want their president to just shut up and be quiet. Unfortunately, in Trump’s case, it’s the best thing he could do in this situation.

Being vice president when the CDC was being competently funded and when congressional Republicans were stoking fears of the Ebola virus – a deadly disease that doesn’t spread as easily as the coronavirus, it’s understandable where Joe Biden is speaking from – and he’s reminding us that we need to pick a candidate who will seek out the advice of experts in the event of outbreak and take them seriously. We had that before the Trump administration decided to spitefully gut the CDC.
