Jim Jordan’s allies are now leaking that tomorrow could be even uglier for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After Jim Jordan lost today’s Speaker vote, he failed to immediately hold another vote, meaning he knew he wasn’t automatically going to get the votes in a second round. Now comes the question of whether he’ll gain or lose votes overnight, ahead of tomorrow morning’s scheduled vote.

A handful of people who voted against Jordan today have now announced that they’re now open to voting for him tomorrow. We’ve also seen the anti-Jordan faction leak the claim that a number of people who voted for Jordan today will vote against him tomorrow. It’s not always clear if these kinds of leaks are accurate, or merely a strategic attempt at creating a self fulfilling prophecy.

But now one of Jim Jordan’s own House Republican allies, Andy Ogles, is telling the media that he expects some of Jordan’s “yes” votes to become “no” votes tomorrow. He’s blaming “lobbyists” for these supposed defections. This is called getting out ahead of bad news by blaming it on bogeymen.

It’s a sign that Jim Jordan has to do a lot more than just win over most of the House Republicans who voted against him today. He’s apparently in the process of losing some of the votes he did get today – which means the math may not be there for him at all.
