Jim Jordan just decided to make it even worse for himself
Jim Jordan saw 20 of his fellow House Republicans vote against him in the first round of Speaker of the House voting. He saw 22 House Republicans vote against him in the second round. Then he called off today’s third round of voting because he was once again going to lose.
Now, even after House Republicans have leaked to the media tonight that Jim Jordan is on track to lose the next round by thirty votes, Jordan has announced tonight that he is indeed going to force a third round of voting tomorrow.
This doesn’t mean it’ll happen. Jordan insisted last night that he was going to hold a vote this morning, and then scrapped it. Nor does Jordan’s announcement mean that he suddenly has the votes. By all accounts he doesn’t.
So what is Jim Jordan doing? He’s a one dimensional bully who has used this specific tactic โ trying to obnoxiously wear people down โ to get as far as he has in life. Now that his one tactic isn’t working for him, he’s still relying on it, under the belief that it’ll have to somehow work. Anything can still happen, but it looks like Jordan is just setting himself up for even more humiliation โ which he more than deserves.
