Anything can happen between now and 11am on Wednesday, but even Jim Jordan’s allies are now leaking that they expect him to lose ground in the second round of voting for Speaker of the House. Jordan’s allies are blaming “lobbyists.” But some House Republicans are painting a different picture: they don’t like how Jordan and his goons tried to harass them into voting for him.

To that end, Jordan began singing a different tune on Tuesday night, tweeting “We must stop attacking each other and come together.” Well okay then. But it was Jordan and/or his proxies who got Sean Hannity involved in making implied threats against those who voted against Jordan, and other divisive tactics. Now Jordan is trying to close the barn door after the horses have already started leaving.

Again, we’ll see what happens at 11am. It’s more clear than ever that a whole lot of House Republicans despise Jim Jordan on a personal level – more than just the twenty who voted against him yesterday. At the same time, House Republicans know that if they tank Jordan’s bid, they may end up having to compromise with Democrats on a Speaker. We’ll see if House Republicans despise Jim Jordan that much. Come to think of it, they just might.
