JD Vance caught with his pants down
Not long ago JD Vance gave away that he’s worried about debating Tim Walz, when he claimed that Walz somehow might not end up being the nominee. Now CBS News has sent out the official VP debate invitations to Vance and Walz, and let’s just say that Vance doesn’t appear to have an answer on whether he’s going to show up:
.
Q: Have you accepted a VP debate with CBS?
Vance: *waves*
Q: Are you going to debate Governor Walz on October 1?
Vance: *ignores* pic.twitter.com/amj30FPYvh

How does JD Vance not have an answer at the ready? Is he really considering not showing up for the VP debate? That would give Tim Walz an hour of de factor free national TV advertising, with the added kicker of an empty podium for Vance.
The problem for Vance isn’t just that he’d likely lose a debate against Walz. It’s that Donald Trump is likely to lose his debate with Kamala Harris in even more glaring fashion – and Vance isn’t allowed to show up Trump by coming off as less inept.
So will JD Vance show up to the debate on October 1st? Will Trump show up to the debate in September? Who cares? Trump and Vance are behind in the polls, which means that if they fail to show up, they’ll just be setting themselves up to fall further behind. And if they do show up, it probably won’t go well for them either.
