January 6th is closing in on Republican Senator Mike Lee
The scandal involving Utah Senator Mike Lee and his text messages is not going away. On the contrary, it is blowing up. And nobody knows this better than Lee himself. The reason I say this is because Lee appears to have adopted a new tactic — silence.
This is not a tactic that will work, but I imagine there must be a landslide of utter panic going on inside the Utah Republican.
The Salt Lake City Tribune appears curious to get Lee on Record as well. In fact, they came right out and asked Lee about the texts. And why shouldn’t they? They ARE a newspaper, after all. All they got in return was — silence.
His staffers stepped up to the plate and blocked him from the Press. Therefore, Lee did not answer the question. Silence. It is rather amusing to me — but also tragic — to see the panic of certain Republicans manifest itself in such a way as this. Silence has long been the comeback of choice for many Republicans.
Oh, they’re quite loud when accusing Democrats of doing bad things. They’re pretty loud in their devotion to an orange monster who doesn’t give a damn about them. But when it comes to their OWN actions? It is silence that wins the day. It is the silence of children.
Hush, hush, frightened Republicans. This is not the silence of tranquility. Not at all. It is the silence of frightened children whose brains have never grown up enough to learn humility — and honesty.
Mike Lee, along with many of his partners in crime, is a child of the troubled night. It’s a dark silence that knows no peace — and Lee must understand that it can’t last forever.
