January 6th Committee to hold public hearing TOMORROW with surprise witness
Late last week the January 6th Committee held its fifth public hearing, and then announced that it would wait until mid July before holding additional public hearings centered around recently obtained evidence. But now that’s all changed, and the committee has suddenly announced that it’s holding another public hearing tomorrow. So what’s going on?
The only clue the committee is giving is that the hearing will center around recently obtained evidence and testimony. So the most obvious guess would be that this hearing centers around the documentary maker who privately testified days ago, and the footage of the Trump campaign and Trump family that he recently turned over. If so, the footage must have turned out to be even more shocking than the committee was expecting.
Another possible guess is Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, if only because Liz Cheney spent the previous public hearing pressuring him to publicly testify. Others have floated names like Ali Alexander, who recently spent several hours testifying to a DOJ grand jury.
But really, while the documentary maker is the most obvious guess, it could be anyone. Whoever and whatever it is, the committee must have decided that it was simply too good to sit on for another few weeks. If it’s a big name, the committee could decide to leak it late tonight or tomorrow morning, so the network TV channels will be more inclined to preempt the soap operas and air the hearing. Whatever is going on, we’ll find out soon enough.
