January 6th Committee to Donald Trump: bon voyage!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The January 6th Committee is now just a couple weeks away from the start of its public hearings, and the committee keeps making a point of ramping up public expectations. This is something you only do when you’ve amassed the kind of evidence that will surpass expectations no matter how high you set them.

Now January 6th Committee Chair Bennie Thompson has announced that the committee has pretty much decided not to bother calling Donald Trump as a witness, because the committee has already uncovered everything it needs to know. Calling Trump to testify would be risky, as it would give Trump a major platform to broadcast his latest lies. You’d only call him if your case against him was un-compelling enough that you need to take the risk of trying to break him while on the witness stand.

The committee is sending a clear signal that it already has Trump nailed in seventeen different ways, and that it expects average nonpolitical Americans to be fully persuaded by the evidence it’s unearthed and the witnesses it’s lined up. This should have Trump terrified. The committee is flat out telling him it already has him nailed and doesn’t need to roll the dice on handing him a microphone.
