I want to talk about the collapse of morality. We’ve seen this in the Republican party for years now. This collapse — this decay of values — has been in a pot, simmering but the culmination of this collapse was on January 6.

Since that day, we have seen who in the GOP is good and who is evil. And tragically, the evil outnumbers the good by far. We’ve seen some of our elected officials turn their backs on the Police, their fellow colleagues, their constituents – and America itself. And it’s all been for one reason. Power.

That is all these people seem to care about. Any soul they may have had is gone, baby gone. The moral rupture is complete. And every day, new evidence of this collapse surfaces. A court filing by the January 6 committee on Friday night suggests that several seditious members of the GOP were actively engaged with Trump team members to try to overturn the 2020 election.

Among those named? Matt Gaetz of Florida. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. Jim Jordan of Ohio. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania. Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Trump sycophant Mark Meadows was also mentioned. The filing suggested Meadows was told about the potential for violence. The filing asks a Federal Judge to enforce the subpoena on Meadows. One of the things discussed was reportedly how to convince Pence to get on board. Luckily, that effort did not work.

We will soon be viewing the televised hearings, which I am sure will paint an eye-popping story. They’re arriving soon — very soon. But I continue to marvel. I marvel not just at the human decay –but at the the eagerness of these “adults” in power who were seemingly all too happy to abandon any pretense of loving this country to join happily in the toxic collapse of morality.
