January 6th Committee reportedly sets its sights on Ivanka Trump
When the January 6th Committee announced that it’ll be holding additional hearings next month due to the last minute evidence it’s received, it pointed to the sheer importance of that evidence. In particular, it suggested that Alex Holder’s Trump campaign documentary footage may be crucial.
Holder was interviewed privately by the committee this week, and now he’s speaking to the media about it. Holder says that the committee is particularly interested in his footage of Ivanka Trump, due to “possible inconsistencies” between what she said to the documentary crew and what she said to the committee.
If Ivanka’s documentary interview reveals that she was pushing Donald Trump to overthrow the election, after she told Congress the opposite, it would be bad optics for her at best, and potentially a crime at worst. Lying to Congress – if it can be proven – is a federal crime that people have been sent to prison for.
We’ll see where this ends up going. But at the least, the January 6th Committee appears to have concluded that the footage it’s received is of such importance, it’s worthy of one or more entire additional hearings next month. Stay tuned.
