For the past year-plus there has been widespread confusion about what role, if any, Ginni Thomas played in the January 6th insurrection and attempted election overthrow. This has been due to conflicting reporting, false memes that have gone viral, and so on. But now there is finally official confirmation that Ginni Thomas was in deep.

The January 6th Committee has obtained dozens of text messages that Ginni Thomas secretly exchanged with Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, ranging from just after Trump was declared the loser of the 2020 election, to just after the January 6th Capitol attack.

The committee isn’t yet revealing the entirety what’s in these text messages. But it’s fairly clear that the committee itself is the source for today’s reporting that the committee has these text messages in its possession. This is notable because it’s difficult to imagine the committee bothering to leak that it has these texts, unless they’re damning.

In particular, the Washington Post is revealing that Ginni Thomas told Meadows not to let Trump concede, and urged the Trump regime to fight to overthrow the election result every step of the way. Depending on how she phrased things, she could be guilty of seditious conspiracy.

What makes this all so crucial, of course, is that Ginni Thomas is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The two of them are allowed to have differing views on things, of course. But January 6th was a criminal conspiracy. So if Ginni Thomas’ texts with Mark Meadows were indeed a part of that conspiracy, that’s a whole different ballgame. Given that Clarence Thomas was the only Supreme Court Justice who voted to block Donald Trump’s January 6th records from coming to light, it raises serious questions about whether Clarence Thomas was attempting to cover up his wife’s alleged crimes – which would arguably be obstruction of justice on his part.

The timing here is also very, very notable. Clarence Thomas was hospitalized over the weekend with a severe infection. Since that time the Supreme Court has declined to state whether or not he’s been released – and it’s led to widespread speculation that Thomas could have to retire due to his health.

Now suddenly the January 6th Committee is revealing that it has Thomas’ wife’s secret text messages. It’s almost as if the committee is seizing the moment and trying to nudge Clarence Thomas into using his current health problem as an excuse to indeed retire, in the hope of taking the upcoming heat off himself and his wife. Either way, once the committee is ready to hold public hearings, these text messages will come out – and if they’re criminal in nature, the committee will presumably refer Ginni Thomas to the DOJ for prosecution.
