Jamie Raskin throws down the gauntlet
Here’s the thing about savvy people in politics. They know that if some hearing or event is going to be underwhelming, they need to tamp down public expectations in advance. The only time they’ll work to ramp up public expectations if they know that the payoff is going to be even bigger than any expectations they can set.
Congressman Jamie Raskin, a member of the January 6th Committee, just tweeted this: “We now have evidence to support the story of the worst presidential political offense against the Union in American history. The January 6th Committee hearings in June will expose every facet of the assault against our democracy and Constitution on 1/6.”
Raskin is certainly savvy enough to know that you don’t throw down the gauntlet like this unless you have goods to exceed even the raised expectations you’re setting.
