Donald Trump suddenly has a James Mattis problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Donald Trump was being sworn in as president, many people felt dread and worried about their safety. While much of what we currently know was not common knowledge back then, it was believed by several experts that Trump received Russian help to steal the election. Based simply on Trump’s actions during the campaign, combined with the fact that the RNC changed its platform to be pro-Russia, most believed that Trump was an asset of Vladamir Putin. Despite these fears, we were told to trust career military individuals around Trump to ensure he would not lead us immediately into imminent death. One of those individuals was General James “Mad Dog” Mattis.

While Mattis has done a great job of attempting to keep Trump from launching any nuclear missiles, we have recently learned that Trump disregarded the recommendations of Mattis when he ordered the airstrike on Syria. Mattis reportedly urged Trump to seek Congressional approval prior striking Syria in response to chemical attacks on civilians by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

There is a growing bipartisan congressional sentiment that Trump did break the law by bypassing congressional approval for this strike. Democrat Senator Tim Kaine and Republican Senator Bob Corker have both called out Trump for making this unilateral decision. Kaine has gone so far as to call the strikes “illegal” and “reckless.” Based on evacuated targets, it also appears Trump gave Putin and Assad a warning before the missiles were sent.

This is more evidence that Donald Trump was simply using a wag-the-dog strategy to distract from the multiple news stories detrimental to his chances of staying in power. As we’ve previously reported, this entire military operation seems to be nothing more than Trump doing what he thinks “real leaders” do when confronted with negative attention in the news cycle: create a distraction, regardless of how it will affect innocent civilians or future military actions. As if we needed any more proof that Trump is not morally or mentally suited to lead America, this is simply more proof of that fact.
