Jack Smith’s star witness
There are millions of stars that color up the night sky with their brilliance. They’re captivating to observe. And then there are the human stars who reside among us. And soon — very soon — there will be one of those humans who, for a brief time, will be the brightest star of them all.
Now this person may be reluctant to assume the role of star. He certainly has indicated that in the past. He has fought against being such a star, but this time — this time — there is nothing he can do. His name is Mike Pence, and he just might be the star witness at Donald Trump’s trial.
I imagine this must be somewhat of a nightmare for Pence. Think about how far he has gone to keep the attention off of January 6 and himself. But thanks to Jack Smith, it has all come roaring back for Pence. Pence is a classic example of a passive-aggressive personality. He can’t speak up publicly. He won’t speak up publicly. However, he DID eventually talk to Jack Smith, and I imagine Smith got an earful.
You see, I think Pence secretly hates Trump. How could he not? The man had no problem seeing him hanged. And Pence is one of those people who keeps it all inside. But I imagine he might have been happy to rat Trump out to Smith. After all, the indictment has lots of Pence secrets in it. And I think, as do many pundits who have been discussing this, that Pence will be the star witness.
His worst nightmare doesn’t do it justice. Pence wants to have it all. He wants the respect of the Maga, who hate him. He wants to be looked at as a courageous man. Except he’s not. But he really will not have a choice this time.
If the trial is televised, the world will see and hear Pence’s words. Talk about a bad dream coming true! This must be anathema to Pence. But he’ll have to it. He’ll have to make that long and agonizing walk up to the witness stand. He will have to face – in person — his biggest enemy and rat him out while millions look on.
