Ivanka Trump posts idiotic tweet, deletes it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With Donald Trump Jr out there saying idiotic things on the campaign trail, and Eric Trump’s name suddenly showing up in relation to the federal grand jury that was originally targeting Michael Cohen, we suppose it was inevitable that Ivanka Trump would want to join in on the Trump family stupidity. Sure enough, she’s found a way to do just that.

Yesterday, Ivanka Trump posted this tweet: “’The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.’” -Socrates.” The trouble, of course, is that Socrates – the famous philosopher – never said any such thing. Instead the quote was from a fictional character named Socrates who worked at a gas station in a book called Way Of The Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives. Oops.

In other words, Ivanka decided to try to make herself look smart, went googling for a Socrates quote she could tweet, and mistakenly landed on one that wasn’t really from Socrates, without bothering to verify it first. She was trying to create the appearance that she’s so well read, she can quote Socrates off the top of her head, and instead she proved the precise opposite.

Ivanka Trump ended up deleting the tweet in question, and then in a belated attempt at covering her tracks, tweeted the quote again and added that the Socrates she was quoting was “a fictional character not the philosopher.” Sure. This is the worst attempt at a coverup since Pee Wee Herman slipped and fell and yelled “I meant to do that!”
