What the heck is Ivanka Trump doing?
Ivanka Trump has come into confirmed contact with an Australian official who has since tested positive for the coronavirus. So she decided to stay home instead of going to work at the White House today, but she’s… not self quarantining? This story is just bizarre.
The White House released a statement today saying that Ivanka Trump “does not need to self-quarantine” because she’s not showing any symptoms. But first of all, that’s not how any of this works. Lindsey Graham and Rick Scott aren’t showing any symptoms, but they’ve decided to self quarantine. Why can’t Ivanka be bothered to do the same? And if she’s staying home, isn’t that basically the same thing as self-quarantining?
This is beyond bizarre. Donald Trump’s press conference today was largely unintelligible, and now it turns out Mar-a-Lago was a veritable petri dish for coronavirus this past weekend, yet he’s still refusing to quarantine himself. Now his daughter is sorta kinda maybe but not really quarantining herself? Oh come on.
