It’s Us Or Them
Hillary Clinton would have kept Obama’s pandemic preparedness playbook in place and the United States would have led the world in the recovery, just like the US is leading the economic recovery under Biden. Instead, Trump assigned the pandemic recovery to his criminal anti-science son-in-law who used it for personal profit while trying to kill Democrats.
In 2020, Biden successfully ran on getting COVID under control, earning 80% of the vote for who’s better on COVID, while Trump got 80% for who’s better on the economy. Biden kept his promise ending the pandemic while creating a booming economy for all. In 2024, he should be able to gain voters on who’s better for the economy.
Historically, the economy has been the single biggest driver of voters. Not even mass shootings, or immigration are as potent. Now, abortion is undeniably the biggest driver of voter enthusiasm. The promise of continued economic recovery, and restoring our constitutional right to privacy should be the cornerstones of Biden’s 2024 campaign. Voting rights, climate change, health care, guns, and restoring our standing on the world stage should play a big part too.
Biden has destroyed Republican talking points on the economy, crime, the environment, and health care. Although Ukraine and the Middle East could be a setback, Biden can capitalize on getting funding for Ukraine and working on getting Israel to an offramp toward a two-state solution, while uniting our allies against the Houthis and Hamas (who are Putin puppets).
All this to say, I’d rather be us than them. Biden is surging in the polls, while the truth about Trump’s mental decline is finally going mainstream. Voters are NOT down on the economy. When asked about personal finance, jobs, income, and life satisfaction, the polls are up, even with right-leaning Axios. Wage growth is 5% higher than ever, student loan debt has been wiped away, for young voters, the job market is better than since 1967, there are fewer uninsured than in history, minimum wage has increased, home ownership is up. For the wealthy, the stock market is all-time highs. And abortion will continue to bring voters to the polls.
Republican Adam Kinzinger said he’d vote for Biden. Criminals and traitors are endorsing Trump. I’d rather not be Russia either. Putin has disgraced that nation with his murderous bullying and zero diplomacy. International sanctions are working and he’s destroying the Russian economy from within. This is no way to win hearts and minds. Yet, the GOP has fully embraced this tyrannical approach enacting cruel policies. Rightwing totalitarianism is their only platform.
Democrats have a wide platform with robust policies of inclusion, economic recovery for all, and better health for Americans and the planet. Our number one goal should be reelecting Biden. Second, win back the House, starting with getting Tom Suozzi elected in the New York 3rd District on February 13th. Palmer Report will provide the other winnable House and Senate seats. It’s us or them. I’d rather be us.
