It’s slipping away from Donald Trump already

If I perhaps was a Genie, an otherworldly, magical Genie in a bottle, I would, in a puff of pink smoke, wish for the Trump administration to be gone – and because I was this genie, my wish would come true. I am no genie. However, Donald Trump’s numbers are heading downward, touched not by Genies but by the American people’s disgust.
The last poll from Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump’s disapproval numbers are now higher than his approval rating and that he has gone over 50 percent in people not approving. This is good news. If I could, my friends, I would transform myself into a bird, fly high over our sparkling green lands, to wander the skies, to gaze into bucolic neighborhoods, and hope there’d be no more trails of tears from my fellow Americans.
I cannot fly. But buyer’s remorse has set in as many of our politicians report hearing from constituents. They are deeply upset about grocery costs and they blame TRUMP — as they should. They are having buyer’s remorse. “If I had just voted for Kamala,” one of these voters lamented.
If I could, I would transform myself into a maple tree, branches rustling with anticipation of the rejection of everything Trumpism. Trump’s little Mayor Eric Adams was booed on his way into court today. Everything Trump is trying to do is slipping away from him.
If I could, I would hasten the hands of time and move forward, those big ticking clocks so that the Trump administration would be over NOW! If I could write perhaps, a poem, that would infuse our great country with a thousand ‘Sirius” rays of starlight to blot out any of Trump’s lawless acts of hate, believe me I would do so.
But the GOOD news is- so far, the damage, terrible as it may, is less than one would have thought because Donald Trump has had a few strikes against him. Goodness still lives and always will. Goodness is seen daily as so many resign in disgust rather than be complicit in breaking the law.
And we have great, wonderful judges and outstanding attorneys. You don’t have to use your imagination to see the passion, the tenderness for our country standing right before you. It is always there. It never sleeps. If I could I would keep one guard-dog eye open at all times, that eye laser focused on the Trump administration and inform everybody as soon as they tried to commit yet another act of illegality. That, at least, I can do.
