“It’s not our problem.” This should really be the campaign slogan of the Republican non-party. Why do I say that? Because it would appear NOTHING is their problem. People living paycheck to paycheck? Rampant poverty? Not our problem says the GOP. Women who may not have the means or the ability to care for a baby and want an abortion? Nope – not our problem. AFTER the baby is born? Not our problem.

NOTHING is ever the GOP’s problem — unless it has to do with minorities, LGTBQ+ folks, or the rights of females to make their own decisions. Also, not the problem of many a Republican? Science. Many Republicans do not believe in it. Conspiracy theories abound in GOP-Land.

How did we get to the point where conspiracies are now the mainstream? We all saw the GOP’s pathetic non-response to Covid. And now they’re doing it again — with Monkeypox. To be clear — only a few cases of Monkeypox have been found here, and it may not become a major issue. However, if it does? Do not expect help from the GOP. Already the conspiracies are spouting up.

“The K in MonkeyPox is silent.” This is from Arizona state Senator Wendy Rogers. And like the good little sheep that they are, many in Maga-world are saying much the same thing — that it is a big hoax.

Maga never met a conspiracy theory they didn’t believe in, it would appear. The Maga crowd apparently thinks literally everyone who is not them — is out to get them. It is the type of thing that one usually hears in mental asylums.

I do hope MonkeyPox never becomes a contagion because if it does, we will have to contend with the usual paranoia of this thing we’ve learned to live with — this thing called Maga. It’s just not their problem.
