It’s midnight and Donald Trump is melting down out of his mind
Today we saw the announcement that the House impeachment inquiry will begin holding televised hearings next week, even as Donald Trump’s pal Roger Stone’s trial got underway, and Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr drew the line on holding a press conference “exonerating” Trump in the Ukraine scandal. With everything going wrong for Trump today, it turns out he’s cranky – even though it’s the middle of the night.
The whining started just after midnight, when Donald Trump posted this tweet: “Years ago, when Media was legitimate, people known as ‘Fact Checkers’ would always call to check and see if a story was accurate. Nowadays they don’t use ‘Fact Checkers’ anymore, they just write whatever they want!” That’s an ironic claim, considering Trump may be single handedly keeping fact checkers in business, as they work overtime to document his thousands upon thousands of lies. But Trump was just getting started.
Trump then took aim at the Bill Barr story, which clearly struck a nerve with him: “The story in the Amazon Washington Post, of course picked up by Fake News CNN, saying “President Trump asked for AG Barr to host a news conference clearing him on Ukraine,” is totally untrue and just another FAKE NEWS story with anonymous sources that don’t exist. The LameStream Media, which is The Enemy of the People, is working overtime with made up stories in order to drive dissension and distrust!”
To be clear, there is no such thing as the “Amazon Washington Post” and CNN is definitely not “Fake News.” But Donald Trump is giving away a little too much here. He’s melting down out of his mind about the Bill Barr story, which means it’s true, which means that – for whatever reason – Barr really is choking. We certainly can’t trust Bill Barr, but now it looks like maybe Trump can’t trust him either, and that clearly has Trump agitated tonight.
