It’s finally happening
Donald Trump and the Trump Organization are in the process of being criminally indicted in New York. The Feds have raided Rudy Giuliani’s home and are a lock to end up arresting him. Matt Gaetz is widely expected to be indicted next month. And an Oath Keeper just cut a Capitol attack plea deal that appears to point to criminal trouble for Roger Stone. But even though this is all firmly on track to happen, neither Trump nor his co-conspirators had faced any actual legal consequences – until now.
When the courts suspended Rudy Giuliani yesterday from being able to practice law, it may not have been much of a punishment – but it was an actual legal punishment against a Trump co-conspirator from the criminal justice system. Moreover, the ruling specifically stated that Giuliani’s dishonest attempt at overthrowing the 2020 election was the reason his law license was being suspended.
So now we finally have something tangible in hand, a confirmation that the justice system really is slowly but surely doing its job. Even if it didn’t involve handcuffs, Rudy’s suspension confirms that the expected criminal takedown of the Trump cartel is not just some optimistic fantasy. It really is finally underway. Donald Trump seems to know there’s no turning back now, given how frantically deranged his response was to Rudy’s suspension.
Let’s call this step one, in what is surely going to be a series of dozens or even hundreds of steps that the criminal justice system is going to end up taking against the Trump cartel. Donald Trump, his Trump Organization henchmen, and maybe his family members, are going to be indicted and arrested in New York. Rudy Giuliani is in the process of being taken down on criminal charges by the Feds. Other Trump underlings are in the process of facing the music as well. It’s finally happening. It’s still an inherently slow process. It won’t suddenly happen overnight now. But it’s nonetheless officially underway.
