It’s a pandemic of lunacy
Okay, let’s see here, in order to help shape young minds we need a new State Superintendent of Schools for the entire state of North Carolina. Ah, here’s another resume. Okay, this one’s interesting. Michelle Morrow. Hmmm … never had a single career remotely associated with education … homeschool mom regularly speaks out against public schools, calls them indoctrination centres … hmm … wants to ban Islam as a religion and ban Muslims from elective offices … hmmm … member Q-Anon … #WWG1WGA … believes Jim Carrey drinks blood of children to stay young. Hmmm. Okay. She’s perfect.
Or so said the voters of North Carolina when they picked right-wing crackpot and lunatic Michelle Morrow for their Republican Superintendent of Schools candidate in Tuesday’s primary. That’s right, crazier-than-a-shithouse-rat Michelle managed to outpoll Republican state Superintendent Catherine Truitt — a lifelong educator-turned-political adviser — by the landslide-ish margin of 52%-to-48%.
Roger Farina, a district chair for the Republican Party, thinks he has an explanation why Morrow won. “It was kind of a perfect storm of the things that were going on in our state, the things that are going on nationally,” Farina said. “And I think [Morrow’s campaign] took advantage of that.”
I’ll say. Morrow took full advantage of the fact that tens of thousands of North Carolinians — and millions of people across the United States — are quietly going insane. The source of their insanity is that slowly, ever-so slowly, belief systems that once would have qualified most candidates for a holiday in the Laughing Academy are now becoming mainstream. This acceptance is due to the fact that a growing number of Kool-Aid drinkers, half-wits and conspiracy-theory-believing cretins are in positions of power today. They are being promoted by Fox News and legitimised by the mainstream media.
Americans aren’t under threat from “illegal aliens” who are taking jobs away from other Americans. Americans are under threat from lobotomised dipshits who believe increasingly insane things who are taking jobs away from other Americans. This is the direct consequence of the death of critical thinking in America. It’s official. Lunacy is now a pandemic in the United States. It’s everywhere you look.
The view from Europe is one of extreme puzzlement. Any single idiocy, like the elevation of someone like Morrow to serious contention, would be a matter of shocked national news here. But until I mentioned her, I’ll bet most of you never even heard of her.
That’s because people like Morrow are becoming more and more common and more and more successful in the US, and keeping track of all of them is hard. And, of course, the mainstream media no longer reacts to them with the horror they should, because there are so damned many of them.
Today in America black is white and up is down, the earth is flat and — I like Jim Carrey and mean him no disparagement, but he doesn’t look young for his age. With or without the blood of children.
There are eight million stories of whack-jobs rising to power in the naked city known as the USA, this has been one of them. And, as ever, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, comrades and friends, stay safe.
