Is this why Madison Cawthorn is melting down?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Earlier today, House Republican Madison Cawthorn was cited for trying to take a gun with him onto an airplane. It’s the latest sign that Cawthorn is unraveling, as he finds himself embroiled in one scandal and controversy after another – and even as he finds himself firmly at odds with his own Republican Party. Now it appears to have gotten much worse for him.

Multiple right wing outlets are now claiming that Cawthorn has been implicated in a potential insider trading scheme. More respectable media outlets have not yet picked up on this story or verified it. But it’s bad news for Cawthorn either way, because either it’s true and he’s in serious legal trouble, or it’s false and right wingers are now inventing scandals about him to try to get rid of him.

The timing is notable, of course. At the time Cawthorn made the paranoid and stupid move of illegally trying to take a gun with him onto an airplane this morning, did he know that this “insider trading” story was hours away from being published? Is this why he’s melting down so badly? We’ll see.
