Is there an echo in here?
As you know, I am a student of Greek Mythology, and occasionally, I weave it into my stories to show how similar the past and the present can be. And sometimes the GOP makes this very easy, as in the following case:
Echo was the bewitchingly lovely nymph who wandered into the path of the young man Narcissus. She fell in love with him, but alas! Hera, Queen of the Gods and the wife of Zeus had taken away Echo’s lovely lyrical voice. Echo could no longer speak except to whisper the words of whoever had just spoken.
Echo’s love for the arrogant Narcissus was doomed from the start. But here, in modern times, we have a situation.
The story is playing itself out somewhat differently, but the fact remains — we must ask — is there an echo in here?
“Deep State is out to get me.”
Donald John Trump
“Out to get Trump.”
Echoes.
“Russia can do whatever the hell they want to any any country that doesn’t pay enough!”
Donald Trump
“Pay up!”
Echo (Lindsey Graham.)
Sink the Immigration bill. I need it for my campaign!
Trump
The immigration bill is no good.
Echoes.
See what I mean?
The fact is that a spell has been cast on Republicans as well, and it is a spell that takes away their voices, leaving only lonely whispers, doomed to repeat whatever the traitor says, whatever he wants, and whatever he craves,
That might be why ABC News came out with this headline:
“Swing state Republicans are in chaos. That could matter in November.”
The article explains how fighting is tearing republicans apart in states such as Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia. And the reason for the tearing apart are — echoes.
More moderate Republicans are losing patience with the Trump loyalists who insist on hanging on his every word and making these words their own.
“At war.” These two factions are now openly at war, and this is NOT a good time for such a thing to happen. Indeed, the timing could not be worse.
This is because there’s an election coming up! There’s an election coming that Republicans want to WIN as they’re all furious with their unending string of losses. So they want to WIN. Ah — if only they could see. In the story I led with, Echo had no options. But the GOP does — they always have.
The GOP seems to lack the intellectual depth it would take for serious self-reflection. The fact is Republicans could improve their odds (although we will still cream them) by dumping Donald Trump tomorrow, breaking the spell, and throwing off the curse that engulfs them.
But it won’t happen, and the rifts that are now happening stand only to get worse — and worse — and worse — and worse…
