Donald Trump is running scared
Earlier today we noted that Donald Trump was finding himself the target of attacks from all sides. He had his choice of whom to fire back at today. It took him long enough to get around to it, not having staged his first meltdown of the day until around lunchtime – and his choice of counterpunches tells us a lot.
Did Donald Trump decide to fire back at General Mattis or Admiral McRaven? Nah, Trump is as afraid of military leaders as ever. Did Trump go after Gordon Sondland for testifying against him, or Rick Perry for resigning and laying the groundwork for testifying, or Mick Mulvaney for royally screwing up yesterday? No, Trump now seems afraid of his own people. Did Trump go after Mitt Romney or Lisa Murkowski for chiding him? Nope, Trump seems to have lost his nerve when it comes to disobedient Republican Senators.
Instead, after tweeting a bunch of inaccurate nonsense about Turkey and Syria, Trump staged this meltdown: “Can you believe I am doing this important work for our Country, and have to deal with Corrupt Adam Schiff and the Do Nothing Democrats at the same time? It was not intended to be this way for a President!”
That’s right, Donald Trump is taking out his wrath on Adam Schiff of all people, who wasn’t even involved in any of yesterday’s chaos. We’ll see what happens as the day goes on and things get even worse for Trump and he becomes more enraged. But for now, Trump is showing that he’s afraid to attack the Republicans, military types, and underlings who could sell him out from within. Trump is running scared.
