Is he just stupid?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Either Donald Trump secretly hopes to lose, or he really is just that stupid. He has been complaining about transgender people for quite some time and continues his lie that one of the Olympics boxers is transgender (she’s not). He recently told a crowd that he plans to “crack down on transgender insanity.” Again, this goes back to Tim Walz’s mantra: mind your own damned business. He wants to remove providers from Medicare and Medicaid if they offer transitional care to minors, pull funding from schools “if officials suggest a child could be trapped in the wrong body,” and purge anything from the federal government that even remotely promotes transgender identity.

Honestly, Trump is just not very smart. His debacle of an interview with NABJ made things bad for him, and the debate exacerbated that. He continues to call people names and rail against certain groups, including his recent rant against Jewish people. According to Trump, if he loses, it will be the Jewish people’s fault. As Ruth Marcus wrote in her opinion for The Washington Post, this was not only stupid, but it’s dangerous. We all know how his followers have threatened those who are against him. Trump is a total danger to our country. That’s why over 700 high-ranking national security experts have endorsed Kamala Harris.

Retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Michael Smith told The Hill: “Vice President Harris has all the leadership qualities needed to be a strong commander in chief. She’s prepared. She’s strategic. She understands all sides of an issue. We saw as much during the debate.” At the same time, Smith told The Hill: “As we’ve seen for nearly a decade, however, former President Trump has none of those qualities, and he has a scary authoritarian streak.” We all know that Trump is a danger to our country and our democracy, but these security officials know more than we could possibly ever know. It would be wise to listen to them. These leaders wrote that they are “proudly endorsing the vice president.” We all tend to support the party we embrace; however, when the person your chosen party has selected is dangerous, we have no choice but to move away from that nominee. This type of issue is new to us, as we’ve never had anyone like Donald Trump in the presidency and running for it again, and it is our duty to keep him out.

More people are seeing things this way as the Vice President Kamala Harris’s favorability keeps on rising. According to Newsweek, her favorability has grown 16 points since she entered the race. Newsweek calls this “an historic rise,” second only to the surge former President George W. Bush enjoyed for his actions following the 9/11 attacks. The most recent poll, conducted from 9/13-17, is what Newsweek calls “the most significant rise for any major party presidential candidate in NBC News polls during the same period.” Harris now stands at 48%. We like her, we trust her, and we support her. We need to get her to the White House by any means necessary.
