Donald Trump throws complete tantrum after his failed Iran stunt doesn’t get him anywhere
After Iran shot down a U.S. drone, Trump began trying to minimize the importance of the incident, even going so far as to suggest that Iran may have shot it down by “mistake.” This was predictable, as Trump clearly doesn’t want a war with Iran; he just wants to use it as a distraction now, and take credit for “fixing” the relationship later (see North Korea).
Iran figured this out and decided to call Donald Trump’s bluff by announcing that it did indeed shoot down the drone on purpose. This exposed Trump’s weakness, so he tried a bizarre new strategy. He ordered a military strike on Iran, then waited until the jets were in the air before calling it off. We suppose he thought this would convince people he was truly willing to do it. Instead, we saw it as an obvious bluff – and those who don’t think it was a bluff are left concluding that Trump is simply a wishy washy weakling.
Now Trump is – again, predictably – throwing a tantrum about his failed stunt on Twitter. He’s somehow blaming President Obama. He’s spinning phony conspiracy theories. He’s misspelling basic words. And he’s naturally trying to make himself look like the benevolent hero: “We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different [sites] when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it.”
Well okay then. Donald Trump has managed to back himself so deeply into a no-win corner on Iran, he’s reduced to taking credit for saving the lives of the people he had just minutes earlier sentenced to death. This is a joke, and not a funny one. Trump is losing, he’s being humiliated by his own ineptness, and he’s playing games with military strikes to try to get people to somehow like him. It’s past time for his ouster, by any legal means necessary. Impeachment, 25th Amendment, bring it on.
