Insane Donald Trump declares “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” as everything falls apart for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. When Donald Trump started questioning whether Kamala Harris was really Black awhile back, I wrote that Trump had reached the “setting himself on fire for attention” stage of his downfall. Since then he’s continued this downward slide by doing things like insisting immigrants are eating people’s pets. Trump just keeps harming himself for attention as things fall apart for him. Now Trump has taken it to a bizarre new level.

Trump declared on Truth Social today that “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” There’s no context, that’s the whole post, and yes we checked to make sure he really said it. It sure sounds like a fake, though. What kind of idiot would declare “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” as a way of trying to win over voters? Even persuadable voters who hate Taylor Swift’s music aren’t going to think it’s appropriate for a presidential candidate to be attacking a pop star for endorsing his opponent. And really, have you met the Swifties? They like to come out of the woodwork for these kinds of fights.

Yet here we are. Even as JD Vance is sorta kinda having to admit that the “immigrants eating pets” thing was never real, Trump is attacking Taylor Swift as some kind of attempt at a distraction. It’s working, in the sense that the Taylor Swift thing is going to be a big story. But it’s going to bring Trump precisely the opposite of the kind of attention that he needs. This is not some clever distraction. It’s Trump setting himself on fire and thinking he’s clever for it.
