“Amateurish and delusional” – Donald Trump’s meeting with Prime Minister of India is a complete disaster

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is a scary proposition when you consider the tricky relationship among the United States, India, and Pakistan, and the fact that Trump is an idiot. Sure enough, Trump managed to quickly screw things up in rather surreal and embarrassing fashion.

During his public remarks, Trump claimed that Modi had privately asked him to get involved in the dispute between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir region. The trouble: anyone with even a basic understanding of the region would know that this would never, ever happen. Not only was Trump lying, he was telling a rather dangerous lie.

Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman tweeted this in response: “Everyone who knows anything about foreign policy in South Asia knows that India consistently opposes third-party mediation re Kashmir. Everyone knows PM Modi would never suggest such a thing. Trump’s statement is amateurish and delusional. And embarrassing.” Sherman added that he went so far as to apologize to Modi for Trump’s “embarrassing mistake.”

Predictably, Donald Trump’s bizarre lie didn’t play well. Shortly after the debacle, India’s official spokesman told CNN that “No such request has been made by Prime Minister to the US President.” In other words, the government of India is going so far as to flatly call the President of the United States a liar – because he is one.
