In the midterms, the game is now afoot

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

November 8, 2022. That is when it will happen if we make it so. That will be our mid-autumn night’s dream. Autumn is the time of change. It’s the time of bountiful harvest, rustling leaves, lazy moonlit hibernation, and the smell of pumpkin spice in the air. It is our time — if we make it so.

The time is passing so quickly, is it not? And we still have so much to do. This is the time to eat, live, and breathe the midterm elections. If you are on Twitter and not following the Palmer Report, what are you waiting for?

Bill Palmer has given you the competitive House races and will continue to update them. Likewise, we know which Senate races we need to work on, which Governor’s races are competitive, and do not forget the smaller races either.

This is the time for volunteering, donating, fundraising, door-knocking, and phone banking. We have it within ourselves to push the boundaries. And we need to do just that — to have our mid-autumn night’s dream.

I do love a challenge. Also, many of us love proving the pundits wrong — although more and more of them are admitting it — we have more than a fighting chance. Witness this article headline from FiveThirtyEight from about a week ago: “The polls still do not show a GOP Bounceback.”

This is the time for action, not reaction. We need to stop reacting to what the Republicans do and say. They will continue to try and push our buttons. Do not let them. As we move into the Autumn and feel the pleasant winds at our backs, it’s the time to show what we can do.

Many of the races will be close. It comes down to who can mobilize their voters. Who can get the biggest turnout? Who WANTS the mid-autumn night’s dream the most?

I think it’s us. I want that dream. I CRAVE that dream. I want to see the shocked faces of the pundits on election night. I want to see the confetti, hear the wild cries of victory and the clapping. I want to know we all helped change the world. I want that autumn dream. And if we all continue to work together, we will have just that.
