Which two of Donald Trump’s family members are most likely to end up in prison as a result of his criminal scandals? For a long time, that answer has been easy: Donald Trump Jr and Jared Kushner. That’s been a reality for so long, it’s seemed almost inevitable. Will they cut plea deals against Trump? Will he make the risky move of trying to pardon them? Now it turns out they’re not the only two involved. Suddenly, Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump have been dragged into the scandal.

First came the news that Ivanka Trump is knee deep in the Trump-Russia scandal. She helped connect the Trump family fixer Michael Cohen with the Russians in the hope of getting Trump Tower built in Moscow during the election. Not only that, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has Ivanka’s emails about the matter. Because Cohen is completely hosed and will probably have to cut a plea deal to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison, he’ll have to give up what he knows about Ivanka in order to get that deal.

But if this doesn’t surprise you because you were expecting Ivanka Trump to get caught up in the investigation eventually, you’re probably more surprised that Melania Trump is now caught up in it as well. Stormy Daniels just filed a new lawsuit alleging that Melania met with Cohen to plot against Daniels. Depending on how the details shake out, this could put Melania on the hook for anything from being a material witnesses to a conspirator in an illegal plot.

Suddenly we’re at a point where Michael Cohen may have to testify against Ivanka Trump, and Melania Trump may have to testify against Michael Cohen, and it’s only Thursday. How much worse are these two new storylines going to get by week’s end? Donald Trump may have to decide whether to make the risky move of trying to pardon Cohen to protect Ivanka. Meanwhile, if Melania Trump ends up having to sell out Donald Trump in order to legally protect herself, does anyone think she wouldn’t do it? Spouses can choose to waive spousal privilege.
