“Impeach the Pres” – everyone piles on after Donald Trump inexplicably calls for his own impeachment
Now that everyone from John Bolton on down is actively trying to take Donald Trump down for his crimes, all eyes are on Trump to see what – if any – counterpunch he’ll attempt. It turns out Trump had a surprise left hook up his sleeve today, but he ended up punching himself in the face.
Check out this Donald Trump tweet, and if you’re annoyed by the all-caps incoherency, feel free to skip to the final three words: “Just out: MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME IS AT THE HIGHEST POINT EVER, EVER, EVER! How about saying it this way, IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! Also, MORE PEOPLE WORKING TODAY IN THE USA THAN AT ANY TIME IN HISTORY! Tough numbers for the Radical Left Democrats to beat! Impeach the Pres.”
That’s right, Donald Trump just called for himself to be impeached. We aren’t the only ones interpreting his words in this manner, as the phrase “Impeach the Pres” immediately began trending atop Twitter as everyone piled on. Remarkably, two hours later, he still hasn’t deleted the tweet.
In fairness to Donald Trump, he was up against Twitter’s 280 character limit, as evidenced by his decision to abbreviate the word “President.” So we’re not sure what he was trying to say. But whether he intended to or not, Trump just called for himself to be impeached. The good news for Trump is that the polls show that the majority of Americans agree with that sentiment.
