Impeach the bastard

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In 1999, a young member of Congress from South Carolina made his case of why impeachment was proper for then-President Bill Clinton. Lindsey Graham stated about impeachment then: “You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic if this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role. Impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”

Time for Nancy Pelosi to act. The Washington Post broke a story last night that President Trump ordered Mick Mulvaney to withhold military aid to Ukraine a short period of time before his call with the Ukrainian president. This is serious. Trump wished to withhold aid to Ukraine to protect itself against Russia because he wanted to motivate Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son.

The excuses offered by Trump are specious at best, as he claims he was worried about this expenditure in the budget. However, Congress had authorized $250 million, a mere pittance compared to what’s being diverted for his wall. And another mystery has emerged – when the Trump regime released the money, why did it send an additional $140 million?

There are easy ways to clear this all up: release the whistleblower complaint to the appropriate Congressional committees. Absent that, the presumption here is that bad things happened. Criminal things.
